Tongass Women for Forest

Brief

Led by Land Clinic board member, Wanda Culp, Tongass Women for Forests is rooted in sovereign Indigenous values, a direct relationship with all cycles of life from places historically used, occupied, and named by our Tlingit ancestors for the Land held by our children. It must never be forgotten that we all must see, hear, smell, feel, and think of the world as one organism of balance and generosity. Our language, clan symbols, songs, dances, names, naming, and stories are gifted to us by generations of Sacred family memory. Tongass Women for Forests envisions healthy families and communities attuned to the Seasons of the Forest.

Land Clinic contributes to this work through legal strategy and support for land returns within cultural context, relationship memorialization, reparative mapmaking, and storytelling.
